About

Have you ever noticed pretty white butterflies flitting over your broccoli plants, only to later find lots of holes munched in the plants' leaves? Several brassica pests (that is, insects that eat broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, collard greens, kohlrabi, Brussels sprouts, and kale) are lovely butterflies as adults and hungry hungry caterpillars that can completely defoliate your vegetables in their larval stage.

Join MU Extension Field Specialist in Horticulture, Eliza Pessereau, at Seeds of Hope Farm (a division of the Community Action Agency of St. Louis, Inc) to learn about how to naturally and organically control these pesky insects that pester our cool season brassica crops.

In this workshop you will:

- Learn insect ID and pest life cycles

- Practice scouting for insects around the farm

- Discuss organic control methods
