Join MU Extension specialists for a full-day workshop combining expert discussion and hands-on training on using drones in agriculture. This program will explore the latest drone technologies and what remote pilots need to know to operate them effectively. This workshop is sponsored by Vesper Energy and is limited to Maries County Residents only.
What to Expect:
- Morning Session: Classroom instruction covering drone types, FAA requirements, and practical applications in agriculture. Learn about small drones for imaging and mapping, as well as large utility drones for spraying and spreading.
- Afternoon Session: Field exercises with dedicated training on manual flight maneuvers and autonomous mission planning. Practice imaging, spraying, and spreading tasks using real-world scenarios.
By the end of the day, participants will understand:
- How drones can enhance Missouri agriculture
- Licensing and certification requirements
- Aircraft performance basics
- Weather and safety considerations
- Imaging and mapping tools
- Calibration for spraying and spreading functions
- Manual and autonomous flight controls
