About
Join Michigan State University Extension for the next P45 Third Thursdays event on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Center in Traverse City.
This hybrid educational session will focus on grapevine nutrition assessment and the use of sap analysis as an in-season tool to support vineyard management decisions. The program is designed for grape growers, vineyard managers, crop consultants, and industry members interested in improving vine health, nutrient management, and data-driven decision-making during the growing season.
The event will be hosted and moderated by Esmaeil Nasrollahiazar, Michigan State University Extension, who will welcome participants, introduce the speakers, facilitate discussion, and moderate audience questions.
The educational presentation will feature Scott Wall, Founder and CEO of NEW AGE Laboratories, who will join virtually to discuss grapevine sap analysis, how it differs from traditional tissue testing, and how growers can use sap analysis results to evaluate vine nutrient status and make timely management decisions during the growing season.
In addition, Brian Kreiger, Head of Sales at NEW AGE Laboratories, will attend in person and provide a hands-on field demonstration. During the demonstration, growers will learn practical steps for collecting grapevine samples, preparing them properly, and packaging and shipping samples to the laboratory for analysis. This field component will help growers better understand how to collect high-quality samples and avoid common mistakes that can affect results.
This program will combine a technical presentation, grower discussion, question-and-answer session, and practical field demonstration to help participants better understand how sap analysis can be used as part of a vineyard nutrient management program.
The event will be offered both in person and online. Growers from across Michigan and neighboring states are invited to participate. The presentation portion will be recorded and shared later on the MSU website to make the information available to a broader audience across Michigan and the United States.
