About
This irrigation-focused workshop is designed to bring producers, stakeholders, industry professionals, and researchers together for a day of hands-on learning and collaboration. Participants will engage with practical tools to improve irrigation efficiency, explore innovations and resources at a trade show, and contribute to a forward-thinking roundtable discussion on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of irrigation in Michigan.
Credits (Requested): 2.5 CCA CEU Soil and water management and 2 RUP credits

9:00 – 9:15 am: Registration and Welcome (Light breakfast available)
9:15 – 9:45 am: Know Your Soil: Hands - On Texture Testing (Bring a sample!)
9:45 – 10:30 am: Mobile Irrigation Lab: How to test uniformity, pressure and flow rate?
10:30 – 11:15 am: Trade Show and MSU-TAPS Tour
11:15 – 12:00 pm: Basic irrigation scheduling concepts + Soil moisture sensors demo
12:00 – 12:30 pm: Variable Rate Irrigation and fertigation demo
12:30 – 1:15 pm: Lunch
1:15 – 1:30 pm: Irrigation Safety
1:30 – 2:30 pm: Future of Michigan Irrigation: A Roundtable on Challenges and Opportunities
